Another great book. Like all of Richards' other books, this one manages to merge sci-fi and thriller, and he does a good job of it. Very well researched and presented in a believable fashion. I think the concepts in this book in particular stand a better chance of actually becoming a reality than some of the topics in other books like Wired/Amped and Split Second. Those were really good too. Split Second took an old Sci-Fi staple (Time travel) and put a very unique spin on it. But I digress.There were a couple of twists that took me completely by surprise, and this was a page turner all the way through, but by the last part of the book, it had become a hair raiser as well. As I said, the main concept of the book probably has a good chance of becoming reality in the not to distant future, but the climactic scenario, and how our current leaders would address it hits far too close to home.
I highly recommend this book, and any of his other books. I've not been disappointed yet.

Game Changer takes off on a non-stop thrill ride from the first page. Its constant twists and turns will amaze just when you think you know which direction the story is heading. It's not often I pause in the middle of a book to admire technique, but this was an exception. Another twist! Impressive

If you are interested in the latest technology and where it may take us, you'll find this book offers up both exciting and sobering possibilities. The author did a lot of research and it shows. I learned something about memory, neuroscience and even religion.
Action thriller fans will find a winner in Game Changer.
This is another excellent science fiction novel from Douglas E. Richards. Richards is excellent at picking a not-impossible scientific prognostication, and then writing a story around it with a taut fast-moving storyline, excellent characters, and a lot of science. In this novel Richards hypothesizes that it becomes possible to implant (download) knowledge into the human brain. Thus, years of university study can be downloaded immediately, and multiple times. Humans can become polymaths, masters of many fields. The effect on human progress may be dramatic. But of course there will be hazards as well.
This all makes for an enjoyable story that is well worth reading. RJB.
Absolutely fascinating! To begin with, the characters are smart and the premise of the story is clever. The thought of not being in control of your own memories is one of the scariest ideas there is. Forget men with gun, try escaping yourself. Also realizing this isn't science fiction, adds to the urgency of each situation. After the rollercoaster ride of a great story, read the after notes from the author. This author puts in the time and effort to know what he is writing about. Each of his books is mentally challenging and stimulating. You will continue to think about them long after you finish the story. Have fun if you dare!
I have now read seven of Doug Richards' books so obviously he is my kind of author. Richards' background is neuroscience and this book puts him squarely in his element. Nonetheless, like his other works, he puts a considerable effort into research and puts forth those findings as an appendix explaining elements of science that are introduced into the story line. This is a feature I really like because I like science as do most SCI FI readers. To me, good science fiction needs to be plausible and all of Richard's' works share near future realistic possibilities. As in all Richards' works that I have read certain moral/philosophical consequences are explored that result from the science that is introduced.
If I were to cite any criticism of this work I would say the story line and character roles are very similar to his other books which makes them formulaic but that would only be noticed by someone who has read seven Douglas Richards books like me. This format would never stop me from reading the next Richards' book because everything he has done is first rate from a technical writing point of view as well as creative energy that goes into the every chapter.

I couldn't put the book down...I went from absolutely certain of situation, understood the rationale and was 100% with Quinn and sharing his rage...to WHAT?????
What just happened, huh...OMG...how does Richard come up with such wonderful adventures and plots and twists so consistently!
This book is sure to rank right up there with Cure, Brain Web and every other one of his books that I had a hard time putting down. .....not to rush him, but I can't wait for the next group of characters and the next adventure!
